Christmas in Rome

December is a special time to visit Rome. The weather is still sunny and warm but the tourist numbers aren't overwhelming. Wandering around the streets in the early morning and later evening you feel as though the city is yours -- it's quiet and peaceful and the Christmas lights give everything a festive twinkle. 

Tallinn, Estonia

We visited Estonia recently for a wedding and I must say, it was an absolutely charming place. Much of our time was spent wandering around the colourful and quirky streets of Old Tallinn which preserves much of its original medieval heritage. In 1997 it became a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.
