About Me

My photo
I am a Canadian currently living in Scotland. I moved to the UK initially to pursue graduate work at the University of Oxford and am now a PhD student based in Scotland. Over the past few years I've lived in England, Scotland and Egypt, and continue visiting Canada frequently. This is really just a diary of photographs highlighting some of the places I've visited since moving to the UK. Photography allows me to savour my surroundings and reflect on my experiences more vividly. If you have any questions please send me an email: sarah.hynek@gmail.com

Dunrobin -- a Scottish fairytale castle

Dunrobin Castle in the highlands of north Scotland is a real-life Disney dream, with its French chateau style surrounded by woodland, ocean and of course, sheep. But like all castles, its history has moments of darkness and mystery reflected in its ghosts, including a young woman who apparently haunts the sewing room.

Visiting Glasgow once again

I'm back in Scotland once again and always spend time in Glasgow on my way in and out. I really think it's an underrated city often thought of as a bit gritty with a high crime rate in the UK. But the Victorian architecture, bustling art community, culinary selection and trendy downtown area make it a place I look forward to visiting again and again.
